Flying Change Farms
Flying Change Farms is owned by Grace and Rex Kamphefner. It sits on 40 acres of gentle hills, studded with a variety of native oaks in Loomis, California. The land was purchased in 2016, and the facility opened with a new seven stall barn and the dressage court arena in June of 2018. The facility has grown since then, gradually adding boarding paddocks, a 100’x60’ arena, and 250’x120’ covered arena. In 2024, FCF completed a 215’x135’ outdoor jump arena, a new 32-stall barn, and covered round pen.
For Grace, a lifelong equestrian, Flying Change Farms has been a dream come true. She wanted to create a facility that not only offered instruction and training in both jumping and dressage, but that also provided the opportunity to ride out on terrain to break up the monotony of arena work. She feels that riding has become too discipline specific, and riders need to keep learning, growing, and challenging themselves and their horses by cross training and changing up the daily routine.
The result is a first class facility that is committed to the safety and well being of its horses and riders, with a focus on the latest advances in sustainability. Three of our arenas feature waterless footing from ArenaMend of Wellington, Florida. Our dressage court conserves water by utilizing watering mats underneath the GGT- type footing from Rudy Leone. Our bedding is anti microbial and dust free cardboard chips from AirLite in Kentucky that compost in approximately 2-4 weeks. In 2025, we added a state-of-the-art composting system to process stall waste from Green Mountain Technologies.

Grace Kamphefner
Grace Kamphefner is the Owner and Manager of Flying Change Farms. Grace started riding in Virginia when she was 8. She became a hunter/jumper rider and acquired her first horse at age 12. Since moving to Granite Bay in 1995, she has competed locally in the amateur jumper divisions up to 1.20m, winning many year-end championships in Northern California and the Pacific Coast region. In 2013 she also started training and showing in dressage with trainer, Sabine Rijssenbeek. In six years, she earned her bronze and silver medals, and her silver bar in freestyle.

Our Team
Flying Change Farms offers lessons and training from our three experienced professionals: Hunter/Jumper trainer Kristie LaFreniere, Dressage trainer, Sabine Rijsseenbeek, and Novice Riding Instructor, Jessica McKendree Johnson. They all work individually and collaboratively to make sure the needs of both horses and riders are met daily. Weekly lesson schedules are posted on an online app so riders can easily track arena availability on schooling days. Many of our riders take advantage of the opportunity to expand their knowledge and cross train their horses by taking lessons in both dressage and jumping.

Our Staff
Flying Change Farms is maintained by a diligent team who work tirelessly behind the scenes to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of our facility. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence are instrumental in creating a safe, beautiful environment for our horses, riders, and guests. All three are knowledgeable around horses and are quick to notice and report injuries or distress. We have staff living on site for 24-hour security. We are so grateful for their hard work and dedication, as FCF simply couldn’t function without them.
